HOMEMADE WOODEN POT STAND WITH SHELVES

I wanted to elevate a pot that I used in the powder bathroom for holding extra toilet paper.  I requested the top be square and made with small pieces of wood joined together to make a unique look.  My hubby came up with the stand below.  It has 2 little shelves and they are offset in alignment.  I was very impressed with his creativity on this one!

HOMEMADE PICTURE FRAME FOR DOGS

My brother and sis-in-law have the most beautiful dogs.  They also have just about everything they need.  SO, it was an easy decision to create something for them for Christmas using pictures of their awesome dogs.  My hubby made the frame from leftover wood flooring.  He carved the bones on the frames using his band saw, chisel, sandpaper, and lots of patience.  The bones are mounted using short wood screws.  The frame is held together using wood glue.  He stained it walnut.

HOMEMADE GARAGE CABINETS

My hubby and I needed a way to organize all of our garage mess - tools, yard chemicals, paint, dolley, nails, screws, etc.  So, we built this huge cabinet out of MDF, plywood, 2x4s, and leftover scrap pinewood.  We painted it dark grey.   He routed "handles" into the doors - you can see a picture of those at the bottom.  He also made a built in desk with built in LED lights.
It took forever to finish it, but it sure is nice to have now!  Some things are definitely worth the wait :)

HAND PAINTED CERAMIC POT

I attended a painting class last week with a friend from work to relax, enjoy Italian appetizers, and chat with my friend.  I thought it was going to be a paint by the numbers kind of class, but it ended up being more of a freestyle class with minimal coaching.  I haven't painted like this since elementary school.  I think I will go for the paint by the numbers class next time just to not have to think so much outside of work - LOL.  Here is how the pot turned out.

OAK STEREO CABINET WITH OLD RECORDS

We needed a place to put some of our stereo equipment and get it off the floor in the music room.  Hubby designed and built this cabinet using very old oak that we found at a flea market, leftover oak floor pieces, and old records (Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, and Iron Maiden).  He used black paint on the inside and walnut stain on the outside. I just love it.  It is one of his most creative pieces to date.

FATHER'S DAY COLLAGE AND OAK FRAME

My dad said many times over the last few months that he wanted to get some old photos of his family and make a collage.  So, my aunt (Dad's sister) secretly made a special trip to bring the pictures to me.  I scanned the pictures, made the collage in power point, and printed them on photo paper.  My hubby designed and made the frame from leftover oak flooring that Dad gave him from when he built his house.  We're hoping he will like his Father's Day surprise tomorrow.

HOMEMADE SEWING TABLE

My sis-in-law's mom is really into sewing and quilting.  She asked my hubby to design and build a table for storing fabric and cutting really large pieces.   She wanted it to be able to fold up and take up less space when stored.  The hubs decided to use solid oak.  Here is what he made:

HOMEMADE TV STAND - PART 4

We added another built-in bookshelf on the opposite side of the room to match the TV stand.  To see the beginning of this, see Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.
It completes and balances the room.
Here is the finished product with a picture of both built ins below.

HOMEMADE HIDDEN SHOE STORAGE IN MUD ROOM

My hubby made this awesome built-in project from something we found on PINTEREST.
It is hidden shoe storage with the ability to hang jackets and bags in our mud room.
We love it because it keeps the dirty shoe bottoms out of the carpeted closets!

With the doors open:

REUSE CANDLE JAR - REMOVE WAX

Another project complete from PINTEREST.
Just follow these steps and it works great!
As you can see, I use my clean jar to hold my hair ties (Emi-Jay).

HOMEMADE CORK LETTER

We have been collecting corks for a long time.  Pinterest gave me the idea for making this project.

Luckily, my hubby is extremely creative and didn't mind gluing them together.  Before gluing, he made the letter flat on the desk.  Then, he used wood glue and a small paint brush to put it together.   He completed the letter in sections and allowed each section to dry before gluing the next.

HOMEMADE TV STAND - PART 2

Now the TV stand has doors.  YAY for extra storage to hide toys or stereo equipment!
The next part will be to add a bookcase/built-in on top that goes up the wall.

MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS - BUON NATALE!

Merry, Merry Christmas!  Buon Natale!
My sweet hubby decorated the tree this year.  All I had to do was the bow on top and the white ribbon.
I stole the idea of putting poinsettia trees around it from an image I saw on Google.

HOMEMADE TV STAND

My hubby started making the "built-ins" for our living room.  We have a huge fireplace in the middle of the wall that we wanted to use for the TV, so he got creative and started a massive project.  This is the first piece of it...it still needs doors and will have a top piece going up the wall above it.  We save a lot of money with his creations.

SIMPLE PLATE DECOR PROJECT

PINTEREST inspired this project.  My mom has great handwriting, so I asked her to help.
Materials:  plates from Target, black Sharpie pen, nice handwriting, plate stand.

HANG UP KIDS ARTWORK IN PLAYROOM

Once again, YAY for PINTEREST!  This is another great idea stolen from someone very creative.
We used the word ARTE because my hubby is Italian and that is the Italian word for art.
Our girls bring home some beautiful art projects from school every day, so we needed a way to hang them up without crowding up the fridge.  The "JULIA" project is another idea you can see HERE.
Materials used:  letters from Hobby Lobby, wood molding from Lowe's, stain, binder clips, and nails.

DO IT YOURSELF BAG/COAT RACK

This is one of the first PINTEREST projects my hubby completed.
I bought the knobs from Hobby Lobby and the piece of wood/molding from Lowe's.
The "FAMILY" sign I also found at Hobby Lobby and it is just sitting on top.
We use this to hang school bags, diaper bags, purses, computer bags, and even jackets sometimes.

KIDS HEIGHT MEASURING RULER

Got this idea from the Dear Lillie blog on a pin from PINTEREST!
Remember when your parents marked your height with a pencil on the wall of the laundry room?

This was really simple.  You just need a board, some stain, a silver paint pen, and some patience.
You can actually do whatever combination of colors that you wish.
Measure three times before hanging it on the wall, too.
We decided to hang ours 9 inches from the floor.
We love having this as a memoir instead of marking their heights on a wall.

ABC WALL IN KIDS PLAYROOM

Another great idea from PINTEREST!
Love this decoration for the playroom.
We bought the letters from Hobby Lobby.  A few of them were wooden, so we painted them different colors.  Then you just creatively hang them up with nails. EASY and FUN!

TODDLER FINGER PAINT ART

Got this idea from PINTEREST as well!
Julia loved making it and it is a beautiful piece of art hanging in the playroom.
Materials needed:
blank canvas from Hobby Lobby, tape off the name/word you want, finger paint, and your toddler.
After they paint, let it dry and peel off the tape - VOILA!

I cut a hole in the bottom of a garbage sack to use for clothing protection and put a few garbage sacks on the floor to protect the floor.

Here it is hanging up in the ART area of the playroom.
